Schloss Neuschwanstein. One of the MOST beautiful things you will ever see. I actually got all three of the above views thanks to a three hour long hike up from inside the castle (0), to the entrance of the castle (1), to Marienbrucke/Mary's Bridge (2), to the best viewpoint (3) and around a corner to the cable-car top, where I found out that I reached one and a half hours after the last cable car, and had to run down (along with my bag and my tensions) to another town in one hour, take a lift in a BMW (everyone has one in Bavaria), and reach the station three precious minutes before the last train back to Munich left. One hell of a day.
PS: That's when I realised the value of trains leaving at timings like 7:58 or 8:04 instead of 8pm. There is such a huge damn difference.
PPS: From Marienbrucke, there was a sign that said 2.45 something. I took that to be kilometres. Turned out to be hours. This trek resulted.

Perfect timing for the post! :)
Well...yeah I found it weird too that most places here do give indications wrt time (even the Deutsche Bahn website)..which is pretty strange considering different walking speeds.Definitely makes more sense in terms of distance! But alas!another addition to the long list of weird things out here :D
Oh yeah regarding the trains...bingo!You almost wish a minute was longer or shorter (depending on the situation) at times :)
hehe :) i was flexible, but thought i might as well post since it wud be useful :D
yeah i got totally fooled - i thought great i'll do it in 1 hr...and it was uphill!! i absolutely died! :D
first post that i understood completely :D
and yeah...the exact timings have also made a hell of a difference in my trips until now..
while going to rome , had t ojump over the fences and cross the tracks to board over the first connecting train (imagine doing these here ) missing which my rome trip would have been cancelled at that monent itself..no alternatives
"PPS: From Marienbrucke, there was a sign that said 2.45 something. I took that to be kilometres. Turned out to be hours. This trek resulted. "
luks like someun gt screwed big time!! :P
u always accuse me of cryptic posts :D i have no idea y! look at the pic n ignore the words (which are just ramblings anyway!:D)...
lol, heart in mouth eh? yeah, i had that experience quite a few times...entire trip screwed if one train missed! scary :D
didnt u get arrested for all those jumps (aren't they disallowed? :D)
who sees that at such a small station..:D
and it was in such a flurry that people might have wondered
"Was that a train? Was that a Lamborghini? NO IT WAS ANISH ARYAN!!" hehe
@ KD-
who in the world writes distances in terms of hours :D
and that too in non-English :P
waise I wouldn't have gotten the BEST view of the castle (4th and others similar to it) if it wasn't for the screwup :D
@anish -
hehehe :D
ive heard of superman and jonty rhodes in that phrase :D
this wudve been interesting coz ppl wudve said something like "Was that a train? Was that a Lamborghini? No, way, it was 2-D and had feet!!! Now it's gone!"
even more interesting that an Aryan should be found in Germany, the land of the "pure" Aryans!
Wow!
indeed :)
Love the castle!
reminds me of beauty and the beast!! :)
as for trains.. once there you realise value of mumbai train system!
(we took infi "last" trains while in switzerland!)
hehe :)
who's the beast?
well, i disagree with u on the mumbai train system...to be honest, it's one of the worst metro or intra-city train transport ull find...in rome, barca or (esp.) paris u have a stop everywhere and nowhere is too far away from a stop...mumbai has like 2/3 lines n doesnt penetrate the city at all...not really on time, inefficient, etc...

yeah seen tht one :D
but this deserved a post anyway :D
Fundoooooo hai yaar...bridge waali fotu sabse mast hai..and the hikes to happiness thing...mann ko khush kar dia...as much as you can khush-ofy a 'mann' like mine which is prone to getting jealous at such glorious out-of-the-mbbs-world sights..and shukar hai zara hansi-khushi ki baatein kari hain, isse pehle jaane kabse kitna complicated 'dedicated to'-some-great-something-wich -seems impressive-and important-but-needs a little-more-mind-than-i-can-spare-rite-now etc macha rakha thaa...almost depressing...wo tha to bahut badhiya, bt it needed some amount of g.k., and d lines written below didnt seem to be exactly 'rambling'...exam-going-stressed-out janta ke liye nahen tha...
